The Purple Lotus at Lavelle Road

Lavelle Road is a much-loved neighborhood named after Michael Fitzgerald Lavelle, an Irish soldier who pioneered gold mining in India.  Lavelle Road connects Richmond Circle and Mahatma Gandhi Square and is well known for its many fine cafés, restaurants, bars, shopping, bookstores, parks, and rich history.  Nearby on MG Road stands Mayo Hall, a beautiful 19th century building that is now a BBMP office and also houses Kempegowda Museum which contains information on the founding fathers of Bengalaru.  The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Cubbon Park and UB City are also located in the Lavelle Road area, as are busy Brigade and MG Roads--two main shopping & entertainment hubs in the city’s center.

At Lavelle Road, you can indulge in luxury shopping or a revitalizing trip to the spa at UB City, where you’ll find countless names in international fashion, including Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, Bottega Veneta & Burberry, to name a few.  Catch a cricket match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.  Sip tea or coffee at one of the area’s delightful cafés, followed by brunch with cocktails.   Take a walk in Cubbon Park to admire the abundance of flora and fauna; during  springtime, this park comes alive with the vibrantly full bloom of Tabebuia trees.  The park also hosts a library, museums, a tennis academy, an aquarium, a toy train and many statues and pavilions.  Or simply stroll and explore Lavelle Road's  many little lanes. quaint old bungalows and cafés.
